I used a special program to capture my movements/actions on my computer monitor. It created an AVI movie file that I exported to Uncompressed Quicktime. I brought it into After Effects, didn’t change the scaling, placed it into a DV NTSC composition, and did some masking effects to it.

Then I exported it a few times: Field Render Off/Upper/Lower. Then I brought the file into my Meridien-based Avid Xpress 4.6. Again, here I used 3 different field import settings: Off/Upper/Lower, so I ended up with 9 files in my bin (all possible combinations of field rendering from AFX -> Avid).

I viewed all 9, every single one is ‘shimmering’. Sort of like a slight shaking, similar as if there was some field order issue. Anybody know what’s going on? How do I fix this?

In this special program, what are the capture setting set to? Whatever they are, you might try setting them to 720 x 480 Lower Field First. Export that as DV, and bring that into AE, then Avid.

There’s no preset option. Can’t do any customization 🙁
