  • Stuttering Text Scroll – Need Solution Fast!

    Premiere Pro CS5
2 minute text scroll of about 300 names.

I have a header at 32 pt font size, center aligned, and the rest of the text is in two columns (side by side text boxes), left aligned, at 15 pt. font size.

Font I am using is Myriad Pro.

The text is white against a deep orange-ish still background.

I added a slight drop shadow to the text. I also increased the brightness and contrast of the text by 10.4% (10.4% brightness and 10.4% contrast).

It plays just fine in Premiere, with no stuttering.

However, when I export it from Premiere as an .avi file, the .avi file stutters. It will roll fine for awhile, then stutters is if it got “caught” on a line…then plays fine for awhile before stuttering again.

The strange thing is that if I rewind back to the point where the stutter occurs, and pick up just before there, it plays through the stuttered section with no stutter…then continues to play fine until it stutters somewhere else.

Since the stuttering is not happening in consistent places, I am not sure how best to troubleshoot this.

The finished product has to be sent to the client early next week.

I have experimented with different durations for the scroll, and that doesn’t seem to affect this stuttering much.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

Avi is but a wrapper whicht codec did you use.
And what are you going to do with this avi?

    I used DV NTSC codec.

This video has two uses – it will be burned to dvd, and will also be shown live in a large general session at a convention. (will be run off of DVCam at the event).

I also discovered that if I export it as a wmv file, it plays fine with no stuttering.

That could work for the dvd, but not for playing it live at the general session.

    Any thoughts?
