February 16, 2007 at 9:23 amyou didn’t used to be able to monitor audio on capture.
the logical reason for that was that when FCP 1 came out there were only G3s and G4s which only went up to 450Mhz speed.
definitely not good enough to risk giving any system cycles to audio monitoring.but the systems got better, and enough people asked for it, that apple relented and built it in.
as for paying back to tape…
of COURSE you will be monitoring your tape.
if not you are either very brave or very foolish 🙂so for one thing, Apple doesn’t want to encourage people to NOT monitor their tape,
and for another NO ONE ELSE IN THE WORLD wants to not monitor their tape, so no one has asked for it yet.ok, i know in most cases you will not be actually monitoring off tape, just the input signal,
but still you;d be crazy not to do that.not necessarily illogical,
but definitely crazy!cheers,
nick
