    Hello, I am stumped!

We are running FCP HD 4.5 on a dual G5. On one computer, when trying to open up a specific project file, it gives a general error. Other project files open up fine. When opening the SAME project file on a different dual G5 FCP HD 4.5, it opens without error.

We have tried trashing the preferences numerous times. Rebuilding the disk through Disk Warrior. Renaming the project. Copying the data into a new project file and opening it that way. Everything we can think of. I have to figure out a way to run the project on that computer (the boss’s).

If anyone has any ideas, help is much appreciated! Thank you!

Are there any timelines open in that particular project? If so, there might be a corrupted clip that the first machine saw and the second machine may not recognize it as being corrupt.

One thing that I have found to work in the past is to quit Final Cut Pro.

Eject the Media drive and turn it off.

Open the FCP Project again, it will say all your media is offline, say Continue. If it opens up normally, close any open timelines and Save the project.

Turn your Media drives back on again.

Now Open the Project again. If the project now opens, FCP was not happy with something on whatever timeline was open. You might now be able to open that timeline and at least see what’s at the playhead. If you know what was at the playhead, I would trash that clip and recapture it.
