According to the blackmagic-design Videohub page:
“Independent Monitoring
“Because most editors love monitoring direct from the router, Videohub has up to 144 independent SDI outputs totally dedicated for monitoring. Independent monitoring outputs are great when you need to quickly look at decks and other editing systems in your facility. You can also use the extra outputs to connect consumer VHS and DVD recorders via external converters.”
IS this the same as monitoring like for editing? You know like when people use an AJA or Matrox or whathaveyou?

I am currently installing a Broadcast videohub for Disney Broadcast Operations. The input and output of the edit system are HD-SDI in each edit room. They come out of an AJA or Blackmagic card, and go in and out of the router. In addition to going in and out of the router, there is a SECOND output on each crosspoint. This output allows you to feed the HD-SDI monitor in your edit room, so you can see either the output of your editing system (via your AJA or Blackmagic or Matrox card), OR select any damn source (like a HD VTR or another edit room) on your monitor, at the click of a mouse.The “monitor output” is just another HD-SDI cross point (assigned as an output to feed an HD monitor).

So…All the outputs (whether they are “for monitoring” or not) are independent crosslinks and are individually routable.
In other words Output 1 does not have to contain the same rout as Output 73 (for monitoring).
