April 1, 2022 at 10:07 pmI work for a tech corp and we’re looking to build a studio for our corporate video needs (green screen shots, on-camera hosts, etc.). The average shoot consists of a 5-6 light set-up, all with Kino Flo Divas and Kino 4-banks, along with DC power for our camera (FS7, RED Raven), a monitor, and some other electronic odds and ends (space lights, a sound system, etc.). The space is about 30 ft x 30ft and the electrician is asking how many outlets per wall and what voltage is required. Does anyone have any insight into what sort of power needs would best address our use case?

August 24, 2022 at 6:20 pmI dont know if you have already built your studio space, but with todays power needs much lower (using Kino flo’s and LED lights) than what they used to be in the days of Quartz lighting, you will need far less than in the past. The biggest thing to look at is where the outlets are located. I would certainly look to add Duplex outlets (probably on separate 20 amp circuits if $ allows) in your ceiling as well as along the walls remembering to not spoil a wall that might be on camera.
To get a more exact need of how much power you certainly can look at each fixture you have and total up the wattage. ( if I remember right, its about 120 watts will draw 1 amp of power.) Always get more power than you think you need! don’t let the electricians give you one 20 amp circuit for the whole studio, you might ask for a 50 amp box with 15-20 circuits in it.
