    Hi There,

I work in a small regional Television Station, one my jobs there is graphics for live to air shows, the system where are using at the moment is very limited. I wanted to now if anyone could recommend any applications, (extra hardware required or not) that will run on a standard Windows or Mac environment (Mac preferred), that can allow us to play out quicktime movies as well as still image formats, create basic graphics like a baseline key( E.g Text sitting on a graphic background made in an Application like Photoshop, or even a clip made in After Effects.), be able to assemble a play list of graphics, downstream keying not required, just simple video output would be enough, and should be reliable and affordable.

The current system (DPS Perception) is doing the job but is now becoming limiting, in it’s inability to create titles, and play formats other than it’s own codec.

Thanks, any suggestions would be great.

    Stephen,
Have you checked out Apple Motion?

    Hi,

Isn’t Motion for the creation of motion graphics.

Sorry I must have confused people, I’m looking for a program for the output of graphics to a vision mixing desk. We would like to be able to play graphics, but would also like the application to have basic title ability.

    Thanks,
    Stephen

Sorry, I’m not familiar with a vision mixing desk.
Motion will certainly playback graphics realtime, and do titling, but it sounds like you want something else.

    Stephen –

Take a look at DekoCast, a formerly Pinnacle Systems product, now owned by AVID. We use one to play to air files created on our other Deko products (FXDeko, TypeDeko (these are used to make the lower thirds and full-screens))or motion graphics and lower third templates made in After Effects, Photoshop, etc.. It has the ability to link to News software (ENPS, etc.) so that CG type is input by News Producers (a scary thought, indeed, but it works)then linked to a template for on-air playback.

Here’s a link to get you started:

You might be looking at a Pinnacle FX deko. We upgraded to this to enhance our local productions at an area public tv station. Features many advanced capabilities as well as your standard titling stuff….not exactly sure what you currently have either but hope this helps.

    Maybe a used Chyron.
Or Final Cut Pro Studio with a new Kona 3 card.
