What???? Really????

OK, The obvious question is… Why not? Heck, it’s DVDSP 4.2.2 and you would think it was already built in!

Anyway, since posting the question I received my download of Squeeze 7. There is an output setting for Blu-ray disc so I’m trying that tonight. It sure seems to have been running a long time.

Anyway, back to DVDSP… I am just shocked, really. So what would I use if Sorenson Squeeze 7 doesn’t do the trick?

Not exactly the best solution, but it does get you an AVCHD encoded file on a red laser (non BluRay) DVD that most BluRay players can play.

Jerry, by far the easiest path to BD is by exporting your HD file to a QT .mov then opening up Titanium Toast (version 10 WITH BD Plug-in) and dragging your file in. Toast does a good BD encode and then will burn to a BD disc. You do obviously have to have a stand alone BD burner attached to your computer for this. No need to even think about Studio Pro.

Thanks Michael, I really appreciate the advice. So creating a menu via DVDSP isn’t a possibility…That’s just hard to understand that Apple doesn’t provide a method for this when everything seems to be there for a standard disc. I suppose I have a knowledge gap and am filling it publicly : )

I’ll give Toast a try and post again with my success or failure details.

No Jerry, I didn’t mention menus. I was merely setting down my workflow for creating Blu-Ray discs as opposed to DVD’s. I pointed out that I didn’t use Studio Pro for this and I don’t believe you can. I don’t put menus on my discs, just the one production and let it play automatically.

Hey Folks,
here is a new – cheaper option to get on the (more than) semi-pro-BD-train.

DVD Logics just released their own BD-authoring-tool called EasyBD. it could create simple BDs as it is near spec-level.

but if you are willing to pay for IG-Editor, you are able to create nice beatifull IG-Streams that could be muxed with your films.

EasyBD will cost 200$ and IG-Edit 500$, so for 700$ you´ll have a (nearly) full featured authoring-system.
