  • Strobing of insert footage on timeline

A problem has appeared on one of the laptops we have at our studio. For some unknown reason all insert footage plays back strobed when you drag it to the timeline AND if it is played in the Canvas windows. We suspect that someone may have inadvertanely selected a setting, but we cannot reverese the strobe affect. If you burn a project to a DVD disc it is not strobed. If you firewire out to a digital tape deck the project footage is strobed.

We have a second laptop and theis strobed look is not present. That is why we think something has been selected that shouldn’t have been.

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Sort of sounds like a field dominance problem. If you’re working in DV, the the LOWER field should be set to be the dominant field. (Lower field first). You can change this back and forth to see if this is the problem, by clicking on this property in the Field Dominance column in the Browser.

Jerry, Sutle strobing is still present. I’m not sure what else to try. Thanks. Thom Sullivan
