Use either a short Fade Through White (in the dissolves section)transition, or on a track above, place a short white clip (media generator > solid)which fades quickly in and out.

Thank you. I can see that. I am having an issue setting up transition time now. If I can figure out how to shorten it I could accomplish what I need.

    Less overlap = shorter transition

i get that, but i can’t seem to make it quite small enough. i have the solid white in the middle of two video tracks. the white is showing up way to long and i can’t make it smaller with the mouse.

What happens when you try to make it smaller? How are you trying to make it smaller?
The shortest it can be is 1 frame.

I’m trying to make it smaller with the mouse. Are there properties I can open up?

Just place the cursor at the right or left side of the transition and drag it forwards or backwards to the desired length. It helps to be zoomed in on the timeline quite a bit.
