    Hi Guys,

I’m trying to work out how to apply a stripy material to the sides of some extruded text, so that the texture runs around the edge in a continuous line… as if the text were made of a stack of different coloured cards, laminated.

I’ve been recalculating UVs with Bodypaint and trying every sort of mapping I can think of to get this to work… but I can’t do it. Can anybody help?

    Thanks.

    Ben.

You shouldn’t have to convert the text. Just use a horizontally striped texture (or the Tiles shader set to one of the Lines types), drop it on the text, and it should be mapped the way you want it. Then you can place other materials on the front and back (caps) by restricting materials to “C1” and/or “C2”. Use “R1” and “R2” for the roundings.

    Thanks Adam,

Great tip about the lines shader… thanks.

The problem I was having is that I hadn’t changed the spline intermediate points to uniform. Once I did that, the pattern evened out.
