I don’t know what else to call it. I have some footage that was shot with an inexpesive consumer hand-held camera. When I import it into FCE only the video track appears. Is there a way for me to extract/separate the audio from the video so I can do some work on it?

Hard to tell without knowing what the video is. You might try MPEG Streamclip.

    All the best,

    Tom
