We are using a 5D to shoot takes that are longer than 10-12 minutes and pulling it into FCP7 through Log & Transfer. As you may know, the Canon media is broken up into sections/clips and saved as separate file numbers.

Does anyone have a technique for quickly combining clips into one long ProRes movie with a continuous timecode? Right now we are doing it by hand and it is very cumbersome.

    Thanks for your help!

Other than stringing them out on the timeline, back to back, and then exporting as a self contained file, reimporting that…no, not really. There is no “join spanned clips” option because those clips aren’t spanned. The camera shuts off due to overheating.

Manual is the only way that I know of.

Thanks Shane, I was hoping for a better option as it will take loads of computer time.

If anybody has a brilliant hack, I’d love to know.

You chose the camera, knowing that it had this issue…you dug yourself into this hole. 🙂
