I have some footage in 4:3 aspect ratio, it plays correctly in media player, and premier pro, but when imported to AE, and dragged to create new comp, it stretches it and wont render (gets hung up) and I cant apply effects… now this is footage that just a few days ago, was working fine, and I was toying with effects, now every piece of footage I bring in.. it stretches it… is there some default setting I dont see somewhere?

In the interpret footage “main” there are some setting that can effects how AE handles your footage. There’s a 4×3 widescreen which will stretch footage. Check there. Also check your comp settings.

Also check the Pixel Aspect Ratio compensation. Sometimes showing non-square pixels on an RGB monitor without compensation makes the video looked squashed (or stretched).

I appreciate your input the both of you, and I think your right Jim there is a little box at the bottom of the comp window that changes pixel aspect ratio, so it looks proper… that seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the help.
