I am editing a recording of our church service and it was shot in 720p. What I’d like to do is during the music put a motion background with the lyrics to the song(s) instead of the footage of the actual service. Then, during speaking parts crossfade to the speaker.

Here is my problem. All of the motion backgrounds that I have for use on Sundays in our presentation software are all SD and obviously in 4:3 aspect ratio. Some of them because they are animated could be easily stretch to 16:9 and still look good. Is there a way to import 4:3 video in my 720p timeline and have it stretch to the 16:9 aspect ratio? When I import the video now, it just keeps it in the 4:3 ratio.

Click the clip in the time line, and in the viwer’s Motion tab change the “aspect ratio”.

Excellent, thank you. I’ll give it a try.
