    How can I export a Premiere project for viewing on a Windows streaming server. Also the tech dept has asked me for an .asf, is that the media file or an additional file that shoudl be generated.
    thanks

    The first thing you should do is find what time of windows media file they want.
    IE what are the requirments for streaming and what type of audience is it.
    320×240? certain bit rate? maybe 300kpbs? what version of the windows media codec? WM7 or WM9? VBR or CBR?

    Once you get all that information then you can export the file as a WMV using the settings that you were given.

    Go to file->export->Adobe Media Encoder.
    This will bring up an export settings page, make sure to change the format type to windows media. Then you can change all the settings in there to meet the requirments of the streaming server. Once you have an exported .WMV you can change the file extention to .ASF and the file will be ready to go.

    Hope that helped.

    Streaming video from a Windows video server often involves a single video file that consists of several versions encapsulated in one file. In Premiere talk these versions are called Audiences. The file itself is described as MBR (multiple bitrate). Typically 3 audiences, a small one for folks on a telephone connection, a medium one for DSL and a larger one for cable.
    The process is a bit complicated. Suggest looking at this image and my suggested audiences and then reading the help file about audiences;
