  • Streaks (Like Drop Out) In Motion Preview and in FCP Sequence

Posted by Michael Jones on January 20, 2006 at 6:41 pm

I have imported a logo made in photoshop (w/no background)into Motion. I have added the wave, defocus, and bloom filters to this one object… When I play it back in Motion (1.0.1) I see horizontal streaks appear at random in the preview window. It is random because each time I move forward and back frame to frame the streaks almost never appear in the same location. When I drop the project file into FCP the streaks are also rendered in the sequence. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a conflict with your video card perhaps. What are your system and version specs?

You might be right! I went to the system profiler and this is what it says for my video card…

    pci10b5,a100:
    Type: Video
    Bus: PCI
    Slot: SLOT-3
    Vendor ID: 0x10b5
    Device ID: 0xa100
    Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x10b5
    Subsystem ID: 0xa100
    Revision ID: 0x0003

    Also:

    Dual 1.25 G4
    MAC OS 10.3.8

BTW, the video card was an ATI 9800 Power Mac (can’t remember exact name)that I purchased (bundled) with motion. Still using Motion 1.0.1. I assume the lack of info in the profiler is indicating some driver problems… I’m going to ATI and look for their updates. I’ll keep you posted.
