Strange Text Tool Selection Error
Hiya,
Ok so I am running AE 2018 & 2019 due to glitches. 2018 Has been my work around.
Today I have opened a build that has been problem free.
When I use the TEXT Tool to select the text (highlight to edit the text), it doesn’t work.
It will only create a new empty text layer.
I have uninstalled and tried both versions of AE.
Hopefully I am not missing something obvious, any ideas appreciated.
ps – I am running the previous version of AE due to this kind of error, but now it is happening in both.

Hi Dave,
No that doesn’t work, it used to!
I can select the layer with the selection tool .. nut impossible to select the text using TEXT tool.

Not to ask obvious questions, but are you certain there’s no hidden/shy layer on top of the text you’re trying to select and the text layer isn’t locked or controlled with an expression or anything like that . I’m not having any issues with the selecting text myself. If its not working in multiple versions it’s gotta be something with the comp.

Thanks and good point about the fault happening in both versions.
If I create a new build / comp .. there is no problem ..
So it must be something in the build I was working in.
Managed to patch through it and finalise the project but If I find out what has happened I’ll post on here.
