  Strange Re-start Demands

  Can anyone guess why my iMac (OS 10.4.2) decides quite frequently to demand a re-start after the screen dims down?
  It usually happens after I use my internal modem – but not always.
  What is the ‘usual’ problem when it asks for a re-start?
