This only occurs after burning a dvd, having been through compressor and DVDSP, but i thought it made sense posting where it all starts.

bassically, ive exported my video from FCP as a quicktime movie using current settings ( 720×576 using anamorphic 16:9 and quicktime video settings set to DVCPRO50 -Pal)

Once thats done, the quicktime/FCP file is sent to Compressor where Dolby Auto is used in conjunction with a custom setting of

    MPEG 2 – m2v Extention – Pal – 16:9 – Top First Field Dominance –
Two pass VBR best – Average bit rate 7.6 – Maximum 8.9 – motion estimation at best
Gop Structure set to IBBP closed size 12

This is then imported to DVDSP and subsequently burnt. When playing on TV’s (and only tvs mind) their is a slight juddery blur to movement, its not interlacing as far as i can see but is still VERY offputting.

    Any thoughts

Thank you for taking time to read this.

You are most likely pushing the available overhead of your set-top player because you raised the bitrate of the preset in Compressor.

Before automatically upping the bitrate, encode using the preset as is, then adjust if you feel you the need, but don’t start off by pushing the envelope right out of the gate.

So what bit rate would you suggest?

Would dropping the average bit rate to 6 and the maximum to 7 be more appropriate?

The preset in Compressor comes at 6.2 and 7.7 max I believe. Try that first and then move on if necessary.

Right i reduced the compressor, as suggested to a lower Mbps

    i set it to:
    average bit rate 5.5
    maximum bit rate 6.8

Yet i am still getting the same problem?

    any ideas?
