strange frame pattern
Hi, I’m on a job right now, got some footage that is pretty strange. The source is unclear and it seems impossible to get a better quicktime clip..
So here is my problem.
The clip is DV, when I play frame by frame, here is the sequence:
Frame – Frame – Frame – Frame – Copy of the frame beforeI’m guessing that this clip was shot in P2 and downconverted to DV for some reason and pulldown was not taken care of.. Now is there a way for me to get rid of those copy frames without deleting them by hand?

Just sounds like standard 24p to me. Frame, frame, frame, frame, repeat frame. Every 4th frame is repeated just like motion pictures.
Unless you want to work in 24p, this is correct. 30/24=1.25 Every frame has to last 1.25 frames, which is impossible, so every 4th frame is repeated to keep it in time.

Ok so you are telling me that it’s not so bad, not ideal I guess…
The thing is in playback I can’t see a problem. But watching it frame by frame, there is definitely a repeated frame after every 4 frames…. I can’t figure why I’m not seeing the repeated frames in playback? Maybe my eyes aren’t quick enough today!?Thanks for the help!

Don’t really know… As bad as it may sound, due to the client’s budget, it might be outputed that way.

actually 24 frames of film going to video is A frame/ B frame/ BC combined frame/ CD combined frame/ DD frame
Thus 4 frames of film (ABCD) fit in 5 frames of video in NTSCThe 4:1 cadence is an anomaly interpreting panasonic 24P. It was an issue in a quicktime /FCP update a few years ago and have not run in to it since except for a few pieces that made it past somebody and went to tape that way only to resurface when recaptured
