Strange fields issue
I apologize to the group if this has been tackled before…
This is probably a newbi question, I’m a long-time editor but I hardly ever use Encore. Those duties fall to another guy here, but he is out today so I’m trying to make a quick DVD…
I have no problem creating the project, everything looks groovy cool in preview, but the finished DVDs play back weirdly. The source material is 60i but the DVDs look progressive. They are a bit motion-stuttery, definitely not 60i.
I can’t seem to figure out what the problem is. We have the newest CS3 suite, running on a Matrox AXIO LE system. The AVI files in Premiere look great. At first I realized I had accidently output a progressive AVI, but even after correcting that the DVDs still look the same. I tried outputting the file in Premiere with upper fields first (just to see what it would look like, but the resulting DVD looks exactly the same. I guess I have a few more combinations of things I could try, but by the time I do that maybe someone smarter than me here can let me know what I’m doing wrong.
FYI, in Premiere I have output Matrox AVIs (both NTSC Matrox DV/DVcam and NTSC Matrox 10-bit Uncompressed flavors) as well as Uncompressed Microsoft AVIs… 10-bit YUV (4:2:2 YUV), 720×486 at 29.97. I’m stumped. Is there a setting wrong… or is there an output setting in Encore that I don’t know about or have not found yet????
Any help is greatly appreciated,
T2T2
