    hi all,

i’ve done this hundreds of times and haven’t had this happen.

when i got export a sequence, i UNCHECK ‘make sequence self-contained’ – so that the file stays relatvely small…

however when it goes to export the file it makes it self-contained no matter what?

    anyone seen this before?

Not me, but you might try trashing your prefs to see if it goes away. Maybe Verify Permissions too.
    That’s all I got,

What makes you think it is self contained? REF files can be large too, depending on the format you are working with.

Export a REF movie, then a self contained one and compare the file sizes.

    Guys,
    thanks for your posts/help.

my clips are relatively short…for example a :10 clip is being exported as 250Mb file…that’s sounds strange….should it matter taht i’m working at 8-bit?

and i hvae no effects on the video, it’s just straight, raw video…

Usually when this happens, it means that you have an effect, or filter, or something that is playing in rt. When export an rt effect, the media is actually ‘baked in’ to the reference movie. Audio is also always baked in.

Are you sure your sequence settings are correct and how many channels of audio do you have?
