I recently did a complete clean install of everything on a new system drive (Snow Leopard, and did all updates, repaired Permissions, etc. When installing the Sony SxX driver and XDCAM transfer, I got this message:
“The system extension /system/library/extensions/CDSAudioCaptureSupport.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try re-installing it.”

The installation of the Sony software continued and was successful, and everything seems ok. Should I be concerned?

Version numbers of everything installed including OS please.
    10.6.4, CB 2.6, XDCAM XFer 2.12, SxS 1.0.4 maybe?

    Hi Chris,

I’m pretty sure it’s harmless. It’s a Roxio driver that’s not compatible with Snow Leopard or at least certain versions of SL. It will come up after installing other software that includes kernel extension drivers such as XDCAM Transfer. It may continue to annoy but has nothing to do with the functionality of the Transfer plugin.

    Best regards,

    Ian

Thanks Ian. Do you think Toast will be affected? I have v. 10.0.8.

On our systems Toast still works as it’s supposed to, though you may want to see if there are any updates.
