I tried to respond to the bug report that you filed, but the email address that you gave doesn’t seem to work.
I can open the file fine in Photoshop CS5.1 and Premiere Pro CS5.5, and in After Effects CS5 and CS4. Just not in After Effects CS5.5. That’s interesting.
Please tell me as much as you can about where the file came from. (Thanks for including some of the specs in the test file image.)

August 1, 2011 at 10:42 pmHi Todd, thanks for looking into this.
I don’t know why you can’t get email me, maybe try max@hs-unit.de instead.
The DPXes originate from the capture software of a Weisscam HS-1. I don’t know what info might be relevant – anything pertinent to the files’ properties should be in the header, right?
Best,
Max

I had the same problem and it was caused by having “fill” checked on my write node. Uncheck the box and you should be dandy

February 1, 2012 at 12:18 pmDid this ever get sorted out?
I can’t open DPX files from a Sony F3 camera or from Lowry digital (they really know what they are doing).
The files will open on every other program I can find, just not AE CS 5.5…
Cheers Richard.
