Strange brownish Halo/stroke on transparent images

Sounds like a straight vs. Premultiplied Alpha channel issue.

Hi Aharon and thanks for your time.

Im not really sure if i understand the video tutorial right.
But i have tried a million times (it seems!) to get it right.

Remember that im using two bitmaps (PNG) to do this morph.

I found out by using the keylight effect it worked/looked perfect (https://studiobergman.com/ae01.html) but then I discovered that I have lost the transparency!

I am obviously missing something here aint I!

Hi It’s me again.

So now I have tried both the “Straight” and “Premultiplied” settings in the “Interpret footage” dialoge but it still wont work.

No transparency …..

Can this be fixed with another type of effect maybe ???

you can try Effect > Channel > Remove color matting

Do it to each piece of footage.

At this point, I have no idea what you are doing to get these results. You may want to walk us through the process so that we can find the error (if there is one).

Mention each step and every program you are using. Don’t skip anything or we may miss something.

I import two png images to AE and then I use the RevisionFX RE:Flex plugin using animated masks to get the morping going.

I use three masks, one for the outer edge border and one each for the inner hole edges.

As I mentioned earlier I managed to loose the halo thing with the Keylight effect (I thought I’d got it at this point and was really happy!)but then I noticed that the transparency was replaced with black.

A quick solution is to use the simple choker – Effect > Matte Tools > Simple Choker – you can use this to choke the edges.

You also may want to precomp the animation and try keylight on the nested composition.

but the tuth is – I;m just guessing. you may want to take this over to the revisionFX forum here at the cow, where people, I’m sure, have already come across this problem.

I’ll try the Simple Choker and see if that works.

I precomped before I made the masks.
I guess that precomping is sort of merging layers together but I could be wrong! ??? Anyway thats what it looks like.
The manual say nothing about precomping.

Nested composition! now thats another new word for me.
Don’t really know what it is but it sounds similar to layers in html.
