Strange Beeps
Posted by Sports Chica on June 5, 2007 at 3:32 amI’m working on a short video in FCP and the audio was recorded rather low, so I am doubling up on the audio tracks. However, when I do this I get several beeps in the first few seconds on my addition audio tracks (3 and 4). Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do about it?
Thanks!Sports Chica

June 5, 2007 at 3:38 amYou need to render your audio. No doubt you have a RED render bar. Option-R will take care of this.

June 5, 2007 at 3:40 amI’m not sure if this is what you’re describing, but FCP will beep if you’ve past the number of realtime audio tracks. How many layers of audio are you trying to playback at once? In the FCP preferences, what is your realtime audio tracks set to? Make sure it’s more that what you’re trying to playback.

There are more efficient ways to boost your audio than doubling tracks, that’s a sloppy nightmare. You can do this in Peak DV which you should have or in Soundtrack Pro. And there are other ways I’m sure.
The beeps are as advised.

Not the right way to do this. Use the Audio Compressor filter to boost your audio and be sure to turn ON “Preserve Volume.”
Beeps are as everyone else said, you need to render the audio.

June 5, 2007 at 3:17 pmAs an alternative to rendering, you can also go into your user’s preferences and increase the number of tracks FCP can mix in real time. This is helpful especially if you plan to use lots of audio tracks in your timeline.
