  • Strange artifacts in preview and after rendering

    Hey everyone,

I’m getting strange artifacts in my videos when I edit with Vegas.

Here is an example of the artifacts I’m getting.

And for reference, here is the same screen in the source video.

As you can see, the source video does have some interlacing and motion blur, but it isn’t the artifacting that’s showing up in Vegas. It’s very noticeable in full motion as well.

Can someone help me figure out what the issue is?

    My relevant project settings are:

    Field order: Lower field first
    Motion blur type: Gaussian
    Deinterlace method: None
Adjust source media to better match project settings is ticked.

    Thanks for any help!

I found out that if I render the video first in Windows Movie Maker as a 1080p WMV, the artifacts don’t appear in Vegas.

I’d like to cut out that extra step though if anyone has any ideas.

I’m guessing these videos are from Dxtory or Fraps?

    Hi, thanks for replying!

    I use a program called d3dgear.

    I record at 1920×1080 resolution at 30fps in AVI1 format. I use Fast MPEG-4 Version 2 codec.
