strange artefacts on exported HD Mpeg
Hi all,
I recently filmed a wedding and all looks fine as normal. However all of the dance floor footage (the raw footage of which looks fine) seems very pixelated and has an almost ‘overly compressed’ look when i export the 1080i HD MPEG (quality slider to 5).
The interview footage (filmed under better light and less gain admitedly) which is interspersed with the dance footage looks fine so I’m sure its not the export settings. However I just cant work out why the source footage looks ok but when exported the quality significantly drops.
I have tried upping the minimum bitrate slider and also exporting progressive (which resulted in the horrible horizontal lines throughout) but I just can’t sort this problem… Would it be anything to do with the fact that I probably had 15db gain on the camera (HDR-FX1) whilst filming?
I’ve used gain before and never seen such a quality loss (or infact any quality loss when I compare the exported HD mpeg with the source footage)
I’d love to get your thoughts on this…
Thanks,
David
