In fcp 7 ( pro) i could store a 3sec xfade under a key so i could apply this very quickly.
So,can you change the default audioxfade and store it someware and can you do the same with video/audio filters? so that you make a fovourite list from witch you can chose
Can you copy and paste an audio cross (please discribe how)
    thanx

To change the default transition duration go to Preferences/Editing.

The default length is .5 seconds (because FCPX is timecode agnostic).

There is currently no way to customize more than one “favourite” transition length as you used to be able to do.

    How about this Jurriaan…

Apply the default time, then use the timeline index to find your transitions (type diss in the search bar), select the ones you want to change, hover the cursor over the timeline to activate the selected transitions, hit cmd-d to set a new duration.

You can’t do that in FCP7.

    Cool idea.

But favourites would still be a preferable route, wouldn’t they?

Yes indeed. I miss dragging an effect into the bin for use later.

And I miss the ability to copy and paste individual attributes onto clips.

It’s interesting that there are shortcuts I can assign for copying the color settings from the previous or second or third previous clips.

It’s also interesting that I can grab an effect in the properties window of a clip, and I can drag it around. It becomes a ghost image, but I can’t do anything with it. It won’t land anywhere.

I know that I can create a color preset and apply that to clips. Still not as easy.

I’m sure they’ll add those thing, but not one instant too soon for me.
