Storage and arrays – NAB 2014
NAB 2014 could be the first among years when data storage ‘for the rest of us’ is getting to be a reality. I saw great offerings from Akitio, Areca, CineRAID, ExaSan, G-Tech, High Point, JMR, Maxx, Netstor, OWC, ProAvio, Promax, Promise, Stardom (in alphabetical order).
Did I miss anyone?
All these have drives and arrays that nearly everyone can afford. All of them make storage that can be relied upon. It’s a wonderful time to be in ‘movies for the rest of us’. Finally there is little or no distinction between what a multi-million dollar facility or production can afford and what a one-man-docu, or event video, setup can afford to have.

you missed Dot Hill ! They charge about $20,000 US for a 12 bay drive array. I have no idea of who their clients are, but I wish they were my clients ! How do I get to charge $20,000 for a plain RAID array with 12 drives. I would come over and paint your house in addition to giving you the drive array.
