  • Stop vs pause keyboard shortcuts in Davinci

I’m just starting to learn Davinci and wanted to change a few keyboard shortcuts. One important one for me is, I would like to have the spacebar stop/play and return to where it was when it started (on timeline), and have ‘enter’ and ‘K’ pause/play. It looks pretty straight forward in the Keyboard customization, but when I program spacebar to “Stop and go to previous position”, it stops working altogether. I set “K” to be “Pause/Start Playback”, and now it stops and returns to the previous position. What is happening?
When I set the keyboard shortcuts back to the Davinci defaults, now both “K” and the spacebar both stop and return the cursor to the previous position. I need K to pause where it is. When I first started the program, I opted to use Davinci’s default keyboard shortcuts and both spacebar and K were acting as ‘pause’. So why now when I opt to return to Davinci defaults are those keys behaving differently?

I feel this must be operator error (this is my first time using Davinci), but can’t seem to make sense of this. It’s pretty important to me to be able to both pause and stop playback.

    Thanks for any help.

Update: I realized the “Stop and go to previous position” command in the keyboard customization is a toggle that switches the ‘stop’ command back and forth between pause and stop (and return). So, what I did was I programmed that toggle command to cntrl+space. It’s not idea, but it allows me to quickly switch between the spacebar being a stop button and a pause button. If anyone has a way to make the spacebar into a stop button while the K button is a pause, that would be great. But for now, I suppose I can get used to this workaround. I hope this helps someone else.
