Stone Smash Animation
Hi all,
I am currently trying to create an effect like the one at 0:56 – 0:57 of this commercial:

I will be using text and I want it to come flying in like this a shatter the stone background that I already have in place like in the video. If anyone knows of any tutorials or how to do this themselves it would be a gigantic help.

Hi there,
This effect can be achieved with the “Shatter” effect on a grunge-textured layer and some good old-fashioned keyframing. You can check out my “Handling Particles in After Effects” tutorial for some tips on how to create your own Shatter map in Photoshop to customise the shapes that the layer breaks into. Use the Physics, Viscosity and Forces sliders to control the particles created.
