    Dear All
What would be the best format I should ask to produce a Sd DVD of stills?
    Size, Definition,dpi, etc…
YOu may say that if I`m going to show in SD then get the pgots in SD … correct?
    then what?

I have been asked by my employer (fashion industry) to produce SD DVD of photos takes during the catwalks for next years collections.

I thought also about motion, but FCP would give me enough transition to work with…
    Thanking you all in advance

All depends on how much you wish to zoom in on the stills. I typically get them at 2 or 3x the pixel aspect of my chosen format so I can zoom in to 100% and be in close. So, if you wish to do the same you should think about getting your stills about 2000 to 2100 pixels wide, by whatever pixels high.

    Txs David
So going to a SD DVD to ha format of 720 x 576 should be ok 1920 x 1080 (almost enough)
What are the drawbacks using 1920 x 1080 compare to 3 times the output format 2100 x 2000

The photo`s are already scaled for this format I won`t have to do any cropping only choose a trasition e put a soundtrack on… don`t know if i`ll use keaframing as yet….

    David txs for your suggestion.
    ciao

The only drawback would be that your ability to zoom in would be slight diminished. No big deal.

Now, if you don’t intend to make moves by zooming in at all and you’re just going full-frame, then having such large stills isn’t necessary and will just cost you more rendering time without any benefit of additional quality. However, the time to scale them down also needs to be considered, so if I were you, I’d just go for it…

    Antonio,

It is the exception that I need anything bigger than twice the frame size, and it should be mentioned that the resolution at twice the size should be 72 dpi. FCP chokes on large stills, so keeping them to the minimum is best.

BTW, I second the vote for Fotomagico, it is a brilliant companion to FCP, saves a boatload of time and works very well.

    Have a wonderful day.
