  • Still Trying To Figure Out Rendering Problems, Vegas 8

Posted by Dmitry Surnin on March 4, 2009 at 6:14 am

I have upgraded to vegas 8 pro and i am still having similar problem regarding rendering.

Is there a special setting in preferences that i need to use? Or just good Codecs?

Original Problem was that Vegas would crash while rending my 2 minute video that consists mainly of .wmv footage or show me that i have a unknown error occurring signal. Or tell me that my system is low on memory.

My template is 1280×720 HD in .wmv format, the original footage is 1024×768 .avi but i compose the shots in After Effects and render it out as .wmv

I tried rendering in different codecs but i still somehow crash or get an error, This popped up last time i tried to render.

Can’t read the image you posted, and posting images to sites that try to download apps in the background or open pop-ups isn’t exactly appreciated.
Trying to render wmv to wmv will create a huge hit on your CPU, it may be that your system isn’t up to the task.

Although it has to be said, I feel lucky even getting that as usually the ignorant piece of software that it is, doesn’t even give me the courtesy of that, it’ll just crash out, mid-render. I am using MBL a lot though, but that shouldn’t matter on my machine really:
    Quad Q9550
    8Gb RAM (Corsair)
    Asus P5Q-E
    XFX G9600 GSO
    Terabytes of HDD room

I’ve tried everything I can think of, searched thousands of forums and submitted a dozen support forms,to both Sony and Red Giant. The latter being the most responsive and even letting me try out 1.2 before buying, to see if it solves my problem. It didn’t. It leaves me to believe that this is a Vegas/Windows problem. Good job I trialed this software before buying it. I think after this, I’ll end up sticking with FCP. Vegas has got promise, but it’s nowhere near as solid it seems. That is unless anyone knows how to solve this irritating problem, ’cause I’m just about done.

    Tried:
Reinstalling Vegas different versions of 8.0)and Windows(x86 x64 vista xp)
    Upgrading .net Framwork
    Upgrading all Drivers
    Upgrading MBL 1.2
    Changing Rendering Threads
    Removing Jpgs
    Reinstalling all drivers
    Trying it on different computers
    Closing preview monitor

Probably more things. I refuse to split the project up or render supposed ‘troublesome clips’ ’cause they don’t trouble any other editing software and they don’t even trouble Vegas sometimes either. I want maximum quality and want to limit compression.
