This is pathetic… Okay went through the steps – No external video, have the system prefs set to y, b-y, r-y video & analog XLR audio (I’m working with a beta deck). Black burst going into Multibridge extreme, and still….

    No levels.

Anyone else suffering through this pain?

I don’t know if it’s a Blackmagic problem or an Apple problem, but it is a problem! I never had a problem with the Kona SD and Final Cut 4.5 doing VO, so this is definitely new.

Can someone from Blackmagic please let us know if you are working on fixing this, and if so, when it will be fixed?

Yep, seems to be a problem.
I find that the card grabs the audio regardles of settings.
It is interesting trying to work with Soundtrack pro.
Reduced to having to use mini jacks on the mac, very professional.

I used to have a full head of hair!

I have had some intermittent problems when using the VO tool this way. As described in an earlier post, on one machine we use the MAC’s audio in for VO, this doesn’t work on another slightly newer but similarly spec’d machine.

When using the “turn off external video” option, sometimes the external video still shows something. It might be desktop or some window from the application. If the monitor shows anything other than black, the VO tool won’t work. It sometimes takes some fiddling to get the monitor to show black rather than for example desktop. Once the monitor is black the the VO tool works for me.
