  • Still no PsF output with Mercury Transmit and DeckLink

The latest drivers support scaled out put, which is a start, but there is still no support for PsF output. This is ridiculous as a lot of monitors and TVs won’t read a 1080P signal. Why does DeckLink still not fully support the 1080i standard in this manner when displaying a signal from Premiere or AE? Resolve offers monitoring cross conversion to every standard under the sun.

BMD, please fix this as a matter of urgency. Since Adobe’s introduction of mercury transmit, my DeckLink card has been rendered useless.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

I know right? This worked in final cut pro 7 didn’t?

Where you could set it up to output a 23.976 sequence as 29.97 so
you could at least see the image on your broadcast monitor.

my current work around is to nest the 23.976 sequence in a 29.97 one,
but that isn’t much real help or useable for color correction in
    the timeline.

    Hi Daniel,

You can toggle whether it is a P or PsF output from the Blackmagic Design system preferences.

However, if you’re going out via HDMI, then it’s only progressive as HDMI does not have a PsF standard.

    Thanks for the reply, Kristian.

I have already set output to 1080 50i in the DeckLink preferences but the framerate is overridden by the timeline settings in Premiere and AE. That is my problem.

Also, I’m not sure why PsF would not be supported over HDMI. 1080i25 is a standard supported by HDMI so why couldn’t this carry a progressive frame split across the two fields (i.e. 25PsF)? In fact, 1080P25 is not an HDTV standard and cannot be received by my Bravia so 1080P25 material must be represented as 25PsF (a 50i signal containing 25P frames).

    Thanks,
    Daniel
