Just checking (and hoping) to see if there’s any way to batch export in PPro 1.5? Damn, I miss that feature (used to be in Premiere 6.5). What were they thinking?

They were thinking that writing a new program to replace one with old code and no future, would take some time. It isn’t even version 2 yet. Give it time.

Nice. Is batch export not possible via a plugin?

Not that I know of. No. Sorry. I would love to see it though. Because when I finish a HDV project, I need a M2T file for my Linkplayer, and a WM9 file for the web. Why not have them both taken care of while I sleep?

If batch export and re-designed project management/window are not in version 2.0 Adobe will lose a lot of potential users. I, for one, will be moving to either VelocityHD or, gasp, FCP, and waving a wistful goodbye to Axio and Cineform. It’s hard for me to believe that they won’t have these features in – it’ll have been 18 (or more!) months since 1.5, but, as I keep reminding myself, they’re Adobe and they march to their own drummer – and I’ve heard the musicians’ jokes about drummers and keeping time.

    Maybe prayer will work.

    I doubt it, though.

Yes, 1.5 is getting a little “long in the tooth”. Dare I say that with the options that are out there, some will not wait until 2.0 is out before bailing. Comeon Adobe, “show us what ya got!”

Steven, just a friendly suggestion as you are a well-known and highly visible member of the Premiere Pro community – rather than take a back-seat waiting approach, perhaps you could lobby some of your Adobe contacts and take a more proactive role in pushing for improvements and more timely upgrades? Again, just a suggestion; otherwise, you’re doing a wonderful job of hosting this forum and providing excellent support. I also love your Lynda.com tutorials.

Thanks. I do what I can. Actually, there are people hosting this forum with a lot more influence with Adobe than I have. However, I have been fortunate enough to meet some of the Premiere Pro team, and I do get to vote on features, now and then, along with many others. I have been anything but quiet about my opinions. I must admit that recently, all of my comments have been related to HDV issues.

It comes down to how many features they can get in during a single release cycle. Many people ask for many things, and each of us are battling for our pet features.

I highly recommend that people start write-in campaigns via the Product Feature Request page. Get your friends online to put in feature requests. That is one of the main ways that Adobe decides what they want to attempt next, as far as I can tell.

Thanks Steven – that’s a great suggestion. I wasn’t aware of the product feature request page.
