So, I have several still images- some flattened psd, some png (all created in photoshop). They are still graphics, backgrounds, etc. I import them, transcode them, drop them in the timeline and they play fine. However, randomly, some will not play on the timeline. They will just show as a black screen. Sometimes this happens during editing, but usually when I quit and reopen fcpx. I read in another thread about checking “maximize compatibility” when saving (which I always do), but this does not seem to be the source of the problem. It’s so random, I can’t put my finger on it. When I click on the image in the clip library it is black as well, the preview of it disappears, so it’s not just in the timeline. It’s as if the file is entirely corrupted. I’ve tried switching the playback settings, but no dice.

    thanx

Right Click on the still in the event and reveal in finder.

    Is the file OK there?

Yes. Reveal in finder points me to an alias which points to the original psd file. I opened the original file with Photoshop and it’s fine.

I see. It’s an alias. I’d try bring it in to the event, proper.
