    hello,

i’m trying to import around 150 still images into final cut pro in order to make a sort of flip book sequence lasting around 10 seconds. I want the stills to move very fast in the sequence. I thought the way around this would be to adjust the speed of the still once dragged into the timeline. However, i can’t adjust multiple stills at once.

The stills are around 10 seconds long each. Does anyone know of a way to reduce the length of my still images all at once?

    thanks

You want to investigate importing “image sequences” in the Studio manuals and on various FCP sites.

Best way to do this is to set up your images in a folder in a numbered sequence. Open that sequence in QT, export as a movie. You can also bring the sequence into Motion. But you can’t do this directly in FCP.

There are other solutions, too, folks may offer some of them over the next few hours.

a slight deviation of what David said….number the images in playback order in a folder to drag into FCP….except before you do that, go to the User Preferences/Editing tab and adjust the default still duration to your desired length per image. THEN bring the images in FCP and drop onto the timeline.

And I’ll tag onto this that once you’ve brought them in, and put them on the time-line, you might want to ‘select all’ and nest them into one managable clip. Easier to add effects to it that way. (though if you need to resize the image (like if you’ve brough in a 3888×2592 image and want to resize it to 1920×1080 – set one of them to 50% (ish) and copy and paste the basic motion to everything – THEN nest.)

    My twopence worth…
