I’m using Premiere 6. I have an issue when I import still images in this case gif files. The gifs are recognised as “movies” in the project window. This means they load up with a duration of “00:00:04” seconds which is kind of useless. I can alter the speed to 1 per cent of original to get about 16 seconds but the image kind of wobbles when rendered. I want them to be imported as stills so I can set the duration to longer and I don’t have the wobble issues.

I am working in PAL 720 x 576 screen size. I have noticed that when still images are the same size or even the same aspect as 720 x 576 (ie. 4:3) Premiere thinks they are movies.

Is this a bug or is there a setting I can change? Perhaps there is an issue with how I am saving the gif files.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I assume these are single frame GIFs, and not animations.
Could you resample the GIFs as TIFFs or PNGs.
Maybe look in the project settings (or Preferences, I can’t remember which), and set the default duration for imported stills to 1-frame.

    Just some thoughts
