  • Still image resizing – any way around it?

Posted by Ken Wilson on April 14, 2006 at 6:26 pm

I’ve rooted around through the menus and the manual, but I cannot seem to find a way to make Vegas not automaticly resize still images to fit in the frame. What I’m working with is very large stills (on the order of 2000×3000), that I’m doing a sort of Ken Burns-ish effect to.
Yes, I know that I can go into the pan/crop tool and resize, but I’d like to be able to turn off the auto-fit if at all possible.
    Any suggestions?

You cannot turn off the “auto resizing”. You can, however, use a script to reverse the auto-resizing. That’s exactly what the “Logo Resize” tool in Excalibur does. You might want to take a look at letting a script add the pans and zooms. There’s a sample video of the Video Scrapbook tool in Excalibur doing this at https://www.jetdv.com/excalibur and I know Ultimate S can also perform this function.
