Still Image Panning Across Static Background
Now I am sure that this question will get a lot of “Ken Burns” type answers but that is not what I am looking for.
I frequently see intros to documentaries, for examples, where an historical photograph has a subject in the foreground, against some form of background, let’s say it’s a house, and the video effect shows the subject distinctly separate from the background, with a pan that makes it look as if the camera is actually moving to a different position of subject against background. Does that make sense? How is that achieved? I can only think that the background is not the original from the still photograph of the subject, that the subject has been cut and layered on top of a new background and manipulated in Motion or After Effects. Is that right?
Thanks in advance.
