  • Still image duration – how can I default to one second?

Posted by Dave Fisher on January 18, 2010 at 8:52 pm

I am importing a large batch of still images (psd, layered) into Premiere CS4.

When I drag the still images into the Timeline, each clip is defaulted to 5 seconds apiece.

I want each to be 1 second.

Is there a preference setting so that the default will import the images as 1 second apiece, rather then the 5 seconds it currently defaults to?

It sure would save me a lot of time!

    Many thanks,
    DaveF

Set it in preferences. It runs on frames so pal = 25 (1sec) NTSC = 30 (1sec).

If you already have clips imported select them and right click on one goto speed/duration set to 1 sec.

And/or go to auto sequence left bottom side Project Window. and do the lot in a flash with favourite transition but, I recommend 4 sec if you use transition. At 1sec seems a little short ?

We did 480 yeasterday. Premiere pro does a smooth job on this.

I forgot to say go to Edit> Preferences. You can set the still images to default duration ie., in frames per second. Default is 150 or Edit as above.Once you have done that you can Automate to Sequence for multiple images as above

I use Premiere Pro CS6 v. 6.0.0, went to premiere Pro, preferences, general, changed still image default duration to 30 frames, made a sequence on timeline with 3 still images and their duration maintains as 5 sec.
    What is going wrong?
Thanks for any help you can provide

I’m having the same issue as Luis. Premiere CS6 maintains the 5 sec duration. Any tips?

Re-import the still images in to the project, when you bring them in to the sequence they will run for the time specified in your preferences
