Still having motion blur problem….PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
I still have a motion blur problem when playing back in Premiere and when burning to DVD through Encore or Premiere.
It’s like seeing trails or multiple images coming off any motion (i.e. arms moving, legs, turning, even panning with the camera) I’m not shooting in any special mode, besides, it plays fine in windows media player!I tried switching the frame blending on and off, nothing seems to work. The mystery comes in when playing any captured video through windows media player…it’s clear as crystal!
I’m using Premiere Pro CS2 straight from the box. Is there a patch or something I need? This problem has only really happened recently.
My PC is an AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual Core 4000+ 2.10 Ghz with 2 Gig of RAM. 320 Gig, 7200 RPM drive. I’m setting the capture allowing the device to dictate time code. In other words, I’m not selecting either drop frame or non-drop frame.
My camera is a Canon GL1. Again, I’m shooting in video mode and not frame mode.
I really need to fix this ASAP! I have 2 important projects on the system, that must be comepleted soon.

project settings are 30 fps non-drop frame. I really don’t change any settings anyway. What should my settings be?
It may be easier if you can tell me that.I’m capturing mini DV shot from a Canon GL1 which is also my source deck. What is non-drop frame and drop frame?
What should I be using? I use whatever it selects automatically anyway. Is that rigt?I shot and edited all summer without having this problem. Now, all of a sudden, I get this. Some of the tapes were shot on a Canon XL1s, but like my tapes, they look fine in windows media player. Also, my tapes play back fine in the camera. Even using the camera built-in monitor, the stuff looks great.
The problem seems to be Premiere itself to me.Phil Lister

Your Project Preset should be ” DV NTSC or PAL Standard 48 kHZ”.
Your concern may be due to the Program monitor squeezing the video to fit. Most of us rely on an external monitor for previews.
Try different zoom levels in the Program window. Also try updating your video card drivers. You are probably just exposed to a poor preview. -
…either what Mike says, or you are seeing field-reversal, probably from using a 720×486 project instead of a 720×480 project.
Drop vs. non-drop is only a timecode numbering issue– video and audio do not differ.
