When I pause playback, the preview via my BlackMagic card is pixelated looks to be about half resolution. While in AE it’s fine. Is there a setting that forces full quality at all times? I’m having trouble with playback and wondering if this kind of thing could be the issue. I’ve been told that peripheral cards often do not display partial resolution images well.

Try changing the zoom of the Program window from Fit to 100%. You might not see much of the image, but it should be sharp.

Not it. Like I think I mentioned, when it’s playing on the timeline, it’s fine and it’s coming out of my BMD card badly, not the source monitor or program monitor.
