Hello. We shot a feature on HVX200 HD camera (1080i – 24 FPS). We captured on P2 cards and Firestore. We imported into FC and began editing. HOWEVER, we need to get super high quality still frames from the film for our poster.

    Any ideas?

Well, you will not get “super high quality” still frames from the HVX.

Theoretically you should be able to copy a 1080 frame to roughly 16×9 cm @ 300 dpi.
(Open file in QT, find frame, hit copy, paste into new photoshop document)

    BUT
I wouldn’t say that you’d get more than half that size as a decent print, due to the color compression.

I have (and love) the HVX, but it isn’t a still camera…

But, you could do with some heavy post’ing compositing i in photoshop. In that case framegrabs will be ok.

Studios do not use frame-grabs for posters or cover art.

They employ a photographer on the set with a high-quality still camera.

    True.

My guess is that jcondne is not a “studio” in that sense.

But I may be way off…

You guessed it… Indy film… if I had Studio Dollars I would have hired a still photographer…. Couldn’t afford that luxury.
