    Hello!

    I recently got all new Max Pros… 32GB Ram… 12 Core… Quadro 4000… 8TB 8-drive raid… pretty nice systems.

I expected Premiere Pro to fly using my Canon 7D stuff. The fact is, it’s still pretty herky jerky, especially when scrubbing. Not even close to the performance I get out of the same footage that’s been converted to ProRes.

I’m just wondering if the main rule of thumb is to go ahead and transcode anyway, and if so what’s the favored method of doing so?

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

There has to be an issue somewhere because with those systems it shouldn’t be an issue.

I would check the drivers for your Quadro because that card should make it fly. Even without the Quardro you shouldn’t have an issue editing 7D footage.

    Hi Chris,

Is it a steady jerkiness, as in always skipping frames or is it intermittent. A steady issue would more likely point to drivers while intermittent issues could be some kind of a bottleneck in the system.

I would try to either roll the Quadro drivers a couple of versions back if the latest is installed.
