Hi – I’m now on version 15.4.1 and it still won’t get past the splash page (iMac running Catalina). It’s apparently getting hung up on old plug-ins, but I don’t understand why it’s even looking for them – why can’t it load as if it was brand-new and then I can add plug-ins if I want? Oddly, it does open on my older, less-powerful MacBook Pro running Mojave. Apple has said, well, just delete all the plug-ins, but they’re all working fine in PP2020 (14.9), which still opens easily, so why would I want to remove them entirely? Thanks, everyone…

Call Dan on this shift key when you start the program and it will give you a dialog box to reset the plug-ins and if you hold down the shift key also it will also allow you to reset your preferences

No, I’m afraid not – the “reset cache” message did appear, I did click “OK,” but it crashed again, on a plug-in… thank you for the REALLY quick response, Chris.

Press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while launching Premiere Pro. You can release the Alt key or Option key when the splash screen appears. To reset preferences and plug-in cache at the same time, hold down Shift-Alt (Windows) or Shift-Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting.

And it still crashed? I’d reinstall.

Crap, still crashing. I’ve done all the option/shift key processes, I uninstalled 15.4.1, re-updated it, and even unchecked the “import preferences” box. It still won’t get past the “FX Factory” plug-in, or the “Random Crop Transition” plugin. I could try and delete it, but I can’t be sure that the next one on the list won’t crash the program either.

Oh, this is really bothersome now. Media Encoder 2021 won’t open either. I just reinstalled it (15.4.1) and it’s crashing on the splash screen on these “FX Factory” plug-ins too. What do they have to do with Media Encoder???

    David

My friends on Adobe Premiere Pro Editors on Facebook answer such issues all the time. Lots of Mac users there who can help.

Kyle Koch runs the group. You’re welcome to mention me.

First thing is check the archive as it’s likely someone had same issue and it’s solved.

We just upgraded to 2021 at my office (we are using iMac Pros), and it seems to run fine on Big Sur. Maybe if you upgrade the OS?
