Stick Texture + Camera Projection
Posted by Murat Pak on December 24, 2008 at 2:23 amI’m using camera mapping as texture projection type, with a stick texture tag to distort my texture.
I can see the texture is being distorted, and works pretty well, in my perspective viewport. But when I render it, it is just single color.
Am I doing something wrong ?

December 24, 2008 at 5:35 amHaven’t done a lot of it myself, simplest problem might be have you told it which camera (even if there is only one)? Other than that no clue but maybe these would help.

December 24, 2008 at 7:35 amyeah, there is only one camera.
try it.
create a camera, create an object, and project an image on that object. Then stick texture tag, you’ll see that it wont render. That’s weird.
if its not rendering, so how can a scene like this can be done in c4d

December 24, 2008 at 3:03 pmThe stick texture tag is incompatible with camera projection. The idea of the stick texture tag is to make the texture move with the geometry, while the idea of camera projection is to project the texture from the camera’s position regardless of the position of the geometry.
If you want to start with the camera projection and then have the texture stick to the object when deformed, right-click on the texture tag and select “generate UV coordinates”. Then you can use a stick texture tag.

December 26, 2008 at 2:23 amHm ok then how can I stick my projected video footage ?
its a tracked footage and – I need to edit a geometry in it.
Tracking is complete.
Added my geometry. Now I want to distort the footage (I mean distort the geometry, at the same place)
Thats why I projected it.
its a video file, so UVW is not working (because it’s not stabilised).
Any other suffestions than “UVW” ?

December 29, 2008 at 6:16 amFlat. You’d have to line the flat texture up with the Background object (with texture tools) to match the Frontal projection on the Background object, then Assign UVW coordinates.
